A Story I Wrote When I Was 7
Recently, I was looking through a huge folder of stuff that I have in my room. It’s full of sensible things like bank statements and student loans letters, and fun stuff like letters from friends, and drawings I’ve done over the years. It was so much fun to look through them all!
One gem I found was a story I wrote when I was 7. It’s so great that I just had to share it! You might remember a post I wrote ages ago called My First Novel, about a story I wrote when I was 11. I wrote out the whole story (in its full glory, spelling mistakes and all) as well as sharing photos of the original book. I’ll do the same with this one!
(For a bit of context before we start: Joely was my best friend at the time (and still is now). She definitely did not have a pet bird as the story suggests (you’ll see), but she did in the story, apparently.)
Joely on the Loose
by Charlotte, age 7
One day, there was a girl that was six. She was comeing up seven, and her name was Joely Dean. They had a pet bird called Bouncer Dean. Her mum was called Leegh and he dad was called Simon. Bouncer had a perch. [side note – her mum’s name is Leigh. Pretty close spelling – well done 7-year-old me.]
One day the family and Bouncer too, they was doing there shopping in Sainsbries when they lost [loset? lonet?] Joely! they nerly left her in the shop. They went down the illes but still couden’t see her.
Then Leegh herd a shout at the back of the shop! It sounded like Joelys vouse! Of course it was Joely and she shouted….. HOORY!
Mean while the hole family even Bouncer had a long wonderful party!! it was Joelys seventh Birthday Party and evry one said…….
HOORY!! and it went on all night!! Leegh shouted HIP HIP…
and the children and Bouncer said
Wasn’t that great? I’m pretty surprised it wasn’t a bestseller, to be honest. To make this even better, I wrote a blurb on the back of the book. I was so good at summarising the story without giving away the plot:
I hope you enjoyed reading this story I wrote when I was 7. It’s so much fun to write these posts! I have loads of other things that I found too, so if you want me to share more, please let me know in the comments!
