this or that

Yesterday I was tagged in the This or That Book Tag by Ayunda at Tea and Paperbacks. Thank you to Morgan at Happy Ever Bookish for tagging me. I wanted to do this tag as I read her post so when I saw I was tagged, I was so happy!

Here are the rules:
-Mention the creator of the tag.
-Thank the blogger who tagged you!
-Choose one of the options.
-Tag 10 other people to do this tag and spread the love!

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?
It just depends on the time of day and whatever I’m in the mood for! If it’s during the day then I like to curl up on the sofa and read, but I also like to read before bed or in the morning when I wake up.

2. Male main character or female main character?
I don’t have a preference, usually – the character just needs to be written well. I like it when there are two characters of both genders, but not involving romance – I like brother-sister relationships or relationships between friends. An example of this is Scoop and Fletcher in The Firebird Chronicles by Daniel Ingram-Brown.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?
I don’t usually eat anything when I read!

4. Trilogies or quartets?
Again, I don’t have a preference so long as the books are written well. Trilogies are great - The Hunger Games, Divergent etc – but one of my favourite book series’, Unwind by Neal Shusterman, is a quartet. It all just depends on how good the story is!

5. First-person point of view or third-person point of view?
I generally prefer third-person, I think. I don’t know why I prefer it, I just do; most of my favourite books are third-person. I do like first-person as well though if (sorry if this sounds repetitive) it’s well-written!

6. Reading at night or in the morning?
I’m rarely awake enough to read in the morning, so definitely the night!

7. Libraries or bookstores?
I don’t go to libraries very much, but I like the atmosphere in them. I used to love going to the library as a kid, especially my local library. The Waterstones in Liverpool is great because it’s so massive and there are loads of comfy chairs, but I think I’ll have to go with libraries.

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?
Books almost NEVER make me cry – I think the only book I’ve ever cried at is The Book Thief (that book was devastating) – so definitely books that make me laugh. I love reading a book that makes me laugh out loud, it makes me happy for ages afterwards!

9. Black book covers or white book covers?
Um… colourful ones? If it’s hardback without the dust jacket then black, but I prefer colourful paperbacks!

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?
Oh, definitely a mix of both. A book can’t have rubbish characters, but it also can’t have great characters but a rubbish plot.

As I usually do with a tag, I can never think of enough people to tag so if you like the look of this tag and want to do it, then please do!
