Illumicrate: August Unboxing
I’ve been subscribed to Illumicrate for a few months now and I always love the boxes! I’ve tried out a couple of different subscription boxes and this one is always my favourite.
I haven’t done an unboxing of one of my Illumicrate boxes before, but it’s something I want to start doing! I like reading other people’s posts about them so I can see what they thought of the box, so I thought people might like to see mine too. Without further ado, here we go!
Just a warning before we begin: if you don’t want to see the contents of this box, don’t look any further. But, assuming it’s okay because you literally clicked on a post “Illumicrate: August Unboxingâ€, go right ahead!
The theme of this month’s box is Oh So Criminal, and it’s all about villains. I was so excited to see what was inside!
The first thing I noticed was that the colour of the box has changed! It used to be white with yellow details, but now it’s full-on yellow. My Hufflepuff heart is loving it… it’s so bright and colourful!
The extra bits that came in this box are so cute! There’s a candle with the scent of watermelon, —- and musk and it smells amazing. There’s a mirror with the quote, “The easiest lies to tell are the ones we want to be true†(Holly Black), and a Six of Crows (Leigh Bardugo) lanyard. My favourite piece of all of these though is a necklace that on one side says ANTAGONIST, and PROTAGONIST on the other. It’s so cool!
The best thing in this box for me is the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban coaster designed by Katie Abey. I always love Katie Abey’s work, so I love getting her designs in a box! This one is SO CUTE!
Now… this was the bit that I wasn’t sure about. In all of the past boxes, I’ve LOVED the books that are included. For example, in the last box there was A Thousand Perfect Notes by C. G. Drews, and that’s a book I’ve wanted for AGES. So when I saw this book, I was a bit torn.
It’s a super cool special edition and the cover is SO pretty. This book is going to be everywhere because it’s part of a popular series of YA DC adaptations and also by Sarah J Maas, so it’s cool that I’ve got a special edition copy. However… I’ve never read anything by Sarah J Maas, and I’m definitely not a fan of DC, Batman or anything to do with superheroes, for that matter. So… do you see how I’m torn?!
I’m definitely going to give it a go and see what I think. I don’t know anything at all about DC women, so it might not make very much sense to me, but I assume it’s going to be clear enough for anyone to read and understand. Hmm. If I read it, I’ll definitely review it. If I remember, I’ll come back here and add the link.
So that’s it… that’s the whole box! I give this one a solid 4 stars. Did you get this months Illumicrate? What did you think of the contents and the choice of book?
I’m looking forward to unboxing the next one!
