NaNoWriMo 2018 – Update #2
This hasn’t been a massively successful week, but I’m still plodding along. This is the first time I’ve started to worry that I’m not going to hit the 50k word count target, as much as I’ve been saying I won’t be disappointed if I don’t – the longer I work at it, the more disappointing I think it’ll feel! So I know I need to keep working away at it. It’s only for another couple of weeks and then I can relax.
This past week has been a bit crazy with work and other things, including an event with a publisher and a family meal out to celebrate a birthday, so I had a few days where I got absolutely nothing written. At all. I can feel it now that I have all those words to catch up on, and I can’t help but feel a bit envious of people who have almost reached the target already (or even surpassed it).
Everyone always says that the middle of the month is the time when a lot of people hit a wall, and I think I’ve almost hit it. I’m going to do my best to work through it, though, and get into a habit of writing every day for the rest of the month. (Except when my friend comes to visit this weekend… aaaah!) However, I did do really well this weekend and I got almost 7000 words written, so I was proud of myself for that! You can see the leap in the word count on the graph below.
Here’s my stats and the chart of my progress so far. If you’re on a phone, you can click to enlarge it.
As you can see, I’m a little under par of where I should be at to complete it in time, if I did the average number of words a way. I’m planning on catching up over the next few days though so I can get above that line again, because it feels so good to be ahead.
It’s only hitting me now that I literally only have ten weekdays to finish this, and I don’t even have the weekend because it’ll be busy. And I’m working every one of those weekdays.
I can do this.
How are you doing? Update me on your progress and we can cheer each other on!
