Becoming a Green Thumb?

Since I was a teenager (or maybe even a kid), I’ve always had a tendency to become quite easily obsessed with things. Whether it’s a TV show, a film, a cast from a TV or a film, a book or author, or even something completely random. It picks me up, holds me tight and makes every part of me obsessed with that one thing, until it loosens its hold a couple of months later and I go back to liking the thing like a regular human would.

Right now, that thing is plants. Specifically, house plants.

And I’ve never had an interest in plants.

And now I have a second blog… just so I can talk about plants.

I blame Jenna Marbles. Recently, she uploaded a 28-minute video talking about her house plants and I was hooked. I found it so interesting, and I loved how she was pointing out all the names and the unique qualities about each of the plants. Soon, I found myself tumbling on a downward spiral into the world of ‘PlantTube’. That’s right – there are so many people talking about their plants, showing their collections, and doing plant haul videos.

One thing I found myself being especially interested in was succulents. They’re so cool! So the next day, when I was at the supermarket getting some shopping, I picked up two new succulents. I was smitten and I wanted them, so I got them.

And then it began. It was like these two little plants flicked a switch in my brain and made me want ALL THE PLANTS.

So now, I guess, I’m in the early stages of being a plant collector. I’ve even joined a Facebook group so I can post pictures of plants and get people to identify them for me. And because I’m me, I’ve also created a new blog. Just for plants. Yup.

(Oh, and just to add another layer of nerd to all of this, I’m also naming my plants after book/film/TV characters. Why does anyone want to be friends with me, again?)

I’m also going to be using this blog to talk about recipes I cook because I’m really trying to get into cooking. I recently ordered a Gousto box and I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes I picked, so I’ll be writing about them on the blog. You can find the blog here!
