Information for Podcast Guests

Thanks for your interest in being a guest in an episode of the Wonderfully Bookish Podcast!

Here’s some of the important bits of info you’ll need about the show, how recording works, etc. Feel free to ask me any questions if you’ve got any.

About the show

The Wonderfully Bookish Podcast started in 2018 as kind of an extension of my blog. I was very lucky to launch the podcast by interviewing some of the biggest names in YA, like Akemi Dawn Bowman, Simon James Green, and Chloe Seager. I also had the opportunity to go to London for an Empowering Teens in YA panel in Foyles, so that I could share the recording of the entire panel on the podcast!

Now, I want to broaden the scope of the podcast so I’m not only talking about YA. I want to talk to people about book blogging, creativity, following your passions, and anything to do with the world of books.

Creating a podcast episode: the process

I’ll quickly go over the whole process that goes into creating a podcast episode, just so you get an idea of how it all works.

1. I plan some of the topics I want to discuss and see if there are any guests I can ask who align with those topics. (Like you!) I get in touch with the potential guest and see if they’re interested in coming on the show.

2. I send you some information (a.k.a. what you’re reading right now) and we schedule a time to record.

3. We record the episode over Zoom. It’s a fun, friendly, chatty conversation – I don’t want to interrogate you with questions! We’ll just have a fun chat about books and any relevant topics.

4. I take the video and the audio and edit them into a video I can upload to my YouTube channel, and an audio podcast episode that will be hosted on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and pretty much else anywhere people listen to podcasts.

How recording works

First, we need to schedule a time to record our episode. We can chat about this. I’m free most evenings and weekends, and I can fit in around you. I’m not planning on having a particular upload schedule for these episodes (been there, done that, and it stressed me out too much), so there’s no pressure to record as soon as humanly possible – just whenever we’re ready!

Please fill out this form any time before recording.Ā It asks you for your name (how you’d like it to be displayed in the episode title), a short bio, any links where people can find you online, and a photo of you that I can use for the podcast images.

Before our scheduled time, I’ll send you a Zoom link.Ā The whole thing will be recorded using Zoom. You don’t need to do anything except show up! We’ll chat a bit and then get into the recording. I record the introduction, etc afterwards, so we can just get straight into the discussion. I’ll have some questions planned, but we’ll just see where the conversation goes. Let me know if you want me to send over the questions beforehand.

Some important notes

  • Please wear headphones/earphones for the recording so there aren’t any echoes in the recording.
  • If you have an external microphone, please use it! Audio quality is super important. If you just have a built-in webcam mic though, don’t worry – it’ll still sound fine.
  • I like episodes to be around the 30-minute mark, but it doesn’t matter if it’s over or under. If we’re having a great conversation, I wouldn’t want to cut it short, so don’t worry about talking for too long!

I can’t wait to have you on the show! As I said above, please fill out this form when you get a sec, and we can schedule a date to record.
